As the new general manager of Findlay RV at 4530 Boulder Highway, Reuben Figueroa has the golden opportunity to watch people live the lifestyle many dream about.

With three of the top-selling brands in the industries - Winnebago, Fleetwood and Forest River - Findlay RV has more than 30 years in the industry. And Figueroa is enthusiastic about the future of the RV business.

"Even when the gasoline prices were soaring, people still want to have fun and they are not going to be deterred," said Figueroa, a native of Tucson, Ariz., who has lived in Las Vegas since 1994.

"This enables the true RVer to go where and when they want to go. It's a home away from home and gets them to places they have never been able to visit. From the beaches to the mountains, this gives them the chance to visit Utah, the beaches or anywhere else. You can bet that everyone with an RV is making plans to have their vacation in cooler climate.

"It's called dry camping and that's when they can go out with no need for landline power or water. The motor homes are all self-sufficient, so once you set up camp, there's no need to go anywhere else."

Owning a motor home can benefit pet enthusiasts.

"Not only can they take their family members, but they can also take their pets when they own a motor home," added Figueroa, who has been with Findlay RV for four years. "In fact, their pets are their family."

Financing rates also are good now, said Figueroa, who formerly served as the dealership's general sales manager.

"Right now, rates are as low as 2.99 percent," Figueroa said. "Also, since a motor home is considered a second home, the interest is tax deductible. Financing is available up to 20 years."

Findlay RV employees have welcomed Figueroa.

"Ruben absolutely deserves the promotion he received," said Rose Maguire, who has been with Findlay RV for 17 years. "He is a team player and makes working here a fun experience."

Findlay RV manager sees greater influx of buyers

Findlay RV General Sales Manager John Gervais sees the recreational vehicle business growing, especially as more Americans retire.

Special To Drive Posted: Oct. 5, 2012

With more than 30 years of experience working in the automobile and recreational vehicle businesses, John Gervais has a good understanding of what it takes to meet the wants and needs of today's customers.

Gervais, now the new general sales manager of Findlay RV at 4530 Boulder Highway, drives home the importance of today's customers with the statement "9,000 people per day are retiring over the next 10 years.

"Baby boomers will stay in America and enjoy the greatest country on earth while utilizing RVs. A huge percentage of RV owners want to bring their pets with them and they can do that with an RV."

Simply put, the restraints and challenges related to the airline business are pushing more retirees to switch to recreational vehicles, he said.

"You can use your RV all the time," explained Gervais, a 13-year Southern Nevada resident who moved here from Saipan south of Japan. "It's truly amazing how many people use their RVs to see and enjoy food competitions, fishing tournaments, landmarks, auto racing or other sporting events. You can use an RV for many gatherings including sleepovers at the house. The usages are countless."

After a strong August in which Findlay RV recorded great sales, Gervais said he is excited to be with Findlay Automotive Group, a Nevada-based operation that has been in Las Vegas for more than 50 years.

"I'm very happy to be with Findlay RV," he said. "This company is comprised of great people who constantly give back to the community in so many ways. Whenever there is a special event in Southern Nevada, you will usually find some kind of participation from Findlay Automotive Group employees. Findlay's people are go-to people who are always giving back to the community."

General Manager Reuben Figueroa said the general sales manager position drew incredible interest.

"I had a number of sales managers that I had to choose from and selected John because he was the most qualified ," said Figueroa, who has been the RV business for 27 years. "We are thrilled to have him as part of our team."

Findlay Automotive Group was founded by the late Pete Findlay, whose son, Cliff Findlay, now oversees dealerships in Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Idaho.
